Position Description

Olink Proteomics continues to grow, and we are now seeking a Section Manager for the Custom Development section called Focus within the Midplex and Custom Department at R&D. As Section Manager Focus, you will lead and inspire a group of dedicated and highly skilled laboratory technicians, development engineers and scientists.

The Focus section is responsible for development and manufacturing of all customized products within the Olink portfolio. Each custom product is developed within a small project, run within the section. As section manager, you and your team will be responsible for delivering the custom projects according to customer requirements and agreed timelines. You will be expected to keep the team motivated and be responsible for maintaining high quality in the deliveries. You will work closely with the commercial team and product management, as well as support the communication with the external customers. You will work with cutting edge molecular biology technologies, at the forefront of development. The role is based in our Uppsala headquarter and reports to Director Midplex and Custom.

Primary responsibilities

• Plan, prioritize and coordinate the team’s activities on a high-level.
• Together with Product Management and Commercial representatives take part in customer discussions as well as review, plan and prioritize custom projects.
• Define responsibilities, required competence and structure within the section.
• Personnel responsibility for the team, be primary responsible for recruitment, onboarding, appraisal meetings, salary discussions and individual goal setting.
• Budget responsibility.
• Collaborate cross functionally to achieve section and department goals.
• Member of the Midplex & Custom management team and representing Focus Custom Development in that forum.
• Take active part in developing the department together with the department director.
• Represent the team/function at Olink events and/or at external meetings.
• Responsible for activities with respect to work environment related issues.
• Work in accordance with applicable company policies and guidance.

Qualifications/skills

• M.Sc or Ph.D. within relevant curriculum of life science.
• At least 10 years’ experience from the life science area.
• Several years of previous experience from a managerial position within the Life Science industry.
• Experience from customer facing positions, such as Product Management or business development, is desired.
• Problem solving and decision-making abilities.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of proteomics, preferably immunologic methods and molecular biology technologies such as qPCR and PCR.
• Professional proficiency in English and Swedish.
